2021 Scholarship

Application for the Chi Am Circle 2021 High School Scholarship is now CLOSED.

Timeline

Application deadline: March 1, 2021
Notification of results: Mid-to-late April, 2021
Scholarship Award Ceremony: Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, a scholarship award dinner was normally organized to award and honor the scholarship recipients in mid-May. As social distancing and avoidance of large party gatherings are expected to continue through the first half of 2021, an in-person ceremony is unlikely to occur. More details will be announced in 2021 regarding the format of the celebration.

About the Chi Am Circle High School Scholarship

The Chi Am Circle High School Scholarship awards range in value from $1,000 to $5,000. The program is very competitive and scholarship recipients are selected based upon a variety of factors including academic achievement, community service, financial need, and noteworthy extracurricular activities such as work, performing arts, and athletics. To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a high school senior in the current academic year
  • Have a minimum 3.3 unweighted cumulative GPA in high school
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Reside and go to school in Santa Clara County, California or be the child or grandchild of an active
       Chi Am member
  • Be of Asian descent as defined by the California Department of Education,

  • Be college-bound in the Fall after your senior year and provide proof of acceptance and enrollment to
       an accredited two or four-year college (Exception: If you are a special needs student, as defined by
       Section 504 of the Education Code, you may attend vocational training.)
  • About the Chi Am Circle Scholarship for Outreach High School for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Students

    To be considered for an Outreach scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a graduating high school student in the current academic year with ASD and is on the Diploma or
       Certificate of Completion path
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Reside and go to school in Santa Clara County, California or be the child or grandchild of an active
       Chi Am member
  • Be of Asian descent as defined by the California Department of Education,

  • About Past Scholarship Years

    In the past, applicants for the High School Scholarship have been very competitive with top students applying from high schools throughout Santa Clara County. In 2020, $103,750 was awarded to 41 high school graduates.

    Back to School Backpack Drive  [ details ]

    Chi Am members fill backpacks and distribute them to school children in need at the beginning of every school year.

    These schools are chosen because they are located in underserved areas. Most of the selected school's students are from families that qualify for some kind of assistance. Most of them are eligible for free or subsidized school lunch programs and are considered low income.

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing guidelines, we will not assemble backpacks with school supplies as in the past. However, returning students will need our help now more than ever. Please consider donating funds to purchase paper, notebooks, pens, backpacks by clicking DONATE below.

    Chi Am members and selected local organizations combine efforts on giving/serving communities in need. Some community projects we are involved in include Relay for Life with American Cancer Society, Friends of Children with Special Needs, LifeMoves, co-sponsoring Chinese New Year Celebration with Hakone Gardens, CHCP Summer Festivals, Fund raising for other worth noting non-profit organizations are some of the examples.

    Test Workbook Drive

    This committee collects and distributes lightly used SAT, SAT II and AP test prep books for the Santa Clara County high schools that have difficulty affording these books.
