2019 Scholarship

The deadline for the Chi Am Circle 2019 High School Scholarship and the 2019 Outreach High School Scholarship for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Students was March 1, 2019. We are no longer accepting applications. As in last year, the applications were entirely accessed and submitted online through the Going Merry (

Please note this year's applicants for the High School Scholarship were very competitive with top students applying from 31 high schools throughout the Santa Clara County. The average unweighted GPA was 3.93. A total of $84,600 was awarded to 31 students from 18 high schools at the annual scholarship dinner on May 20th at China Stix Restaurant in Santa Clara.

Chi Am Circle High School Scholarship

The Chi Am Circle High School scholarship awards range in value from $1,000 to $5,000. The program is very competitive and scholarship recipients are selected based upon a variety of factors including academic achievement, community service, financial need, and noteworthy extracurricular activities such as work, performing arts, and athletics. To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a high school senior in the current academic year
  • Have a minimum 3.3 unweighted cumulative GPA in high school
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Reside and go to school in Santa Clara County, California or be the child or grandchild of a Chi Am
  • Be of Asian descent as defined by California Department of Education,
  • Be a college-bound in the Fall after your senior year and provide proof of acceptance and enrollment to
       an accredited two or four-year college (Exception: If you are a special needs student, as defined by
       Section 504 of the Education Code, you may attend vocational training.)
  • 2019 Chi Am Circle Scholarship for Outreach High School for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Students

    To be considered for an Outreach scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a graduating high school student in 2019 with ASD and is on the Diploma or Certificate
       of Completion path
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Reside and go to school in Santa Clara County, California or be the child or grandchild of a
       Chi Am member
  • Be of Asian descent as defined by the California Department of Education,

    Backpack for Kids  [ details ]

    Chi Am members fill backpacks and distribute them to school children in need at the beginning of every school year.

    These schools are chosen because they are located in underserved areas. Most of the selected school's students are from families that qualify for some kind of assistance. Most of them are eligible for free or subsidized school lunch programs and are considered low income.

    Chi Am members and selected local organizations combine efforts on giving/serving communities in need. Some community projects we are involved in include Relay for Live with Amerian Cancer Society, Friends of Children with Special Needs, LifeMoves, co-sponsoring Chinese New Year Celebration with Hakone Gardens, CHCP Summer Festivals, Fund raising for other worth noting non-profit organizations are some of the examples.

    Test Workbook Drive

    This committee collects and distributes lightly used SAT, SAT II and AP test prep books for the Santa Clara County high schools that have difficulty affording these books.
