The 2017 Chi Am Scholarship Application is Now Available!

We encourage Santa Clara County high school seniors of Asian descent to apply for a 2017 Chi Am Scholarship. Download the application in Word or PDF format and follow the instructions carefully.

Scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $5,000 and are sponsored by Chi Am Circle and community members dedicated to education. They are awarded based on a variety of factors including academic achievement, community service, and significant extracurricular activities such as work, performing arts, and athletics. Financial need is a criterion for several scholarships, but there are also others awarded for academic merit regardless of need.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be a high school senior in the Class of 2017
  • Have a minimum 3.3 GPA during high school
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Reside in Santa Clara County, California or be the child or grandchild of a Chi Am member
  • Be college-bound and be able to show proof of acceptance to an accredited junior or four-year college (Exception: If you are a special needs student, as defined by Section 504 of the Education Code, you may attend vocational training.)
  • Be of Asian descent as defined by CA Dept of Education,

Newly established for 2017, Chi Am proudly introduces scholarships for high school seniors with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)! This scholarship opportunity is based on special gifts, talents, skills, achievements or academics to support further schooling, training and education. All awardees must attend the annual scholarship dinner to receive their award. The dinner is held in mid-May at a venue in Santa Clara County. A keynote guest will be on hand to present the awards and speak to the audience.

Application Deadline: March 10, 2017. Email submission is preferred. Follow the application instructions carefully. Points will be deducted for not following directions. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.

Scholarship Dinner: Check back in mid-April for the exact date, time and venue.

Community Service Project   [ details ]

Chi Am members and selected local organizations combine efforts on giving/serving communities in need. Some community projects we are involved in include co-sponsoring Chinese New Year Celebration with Hakone Gardens, Relay for Live with Amerian Cancer Society, Friends of Children with Special Needs, LifeMoves, CHCP Summer Festivals, Fund raising for other worth noting non-profit organizations are some of the examples.

Test Workbook Drive

This committee collects and distributes lightly used SAT, SAT II and AP test prep books for the Santa Clara County high schools that have difficulty affording these books.

Backpack for Kids  [ details ]

Chi Am members will be filling backpacks and distributing them to school children in need.
