Chi Am Circle is co-sponsoring Hakone's Year of the Dragon Celebration
Please attend this year's Lunar New Year celebration at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, CA. Hakone's Year of the Dragon festival will include a Cooking Demonstration by our own Diana Chan. Lunch is provided in addition to an array of Chinese performances, including an authentic Lion Dance. Exhibits from the Xin Dynasty along with paintings and antiquities will be displayed.

The 29th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival will be showing films in San Francisco and San Jose March 10-20. Its official website is http://caamedia.org/
Chi Am will be following our tradition of co-presenting a film. This year's selection is ALMOST PERFECT. The film, a romantic comedy, will be showing in San Jose on Saturday, March 19 @ 6pm (Camera 12). With 1.2 million impressions on the Festival website and an audience of over 25,000 Festival attendees, SFIAAFF is a great opportunity for Chi Am to reach out to a larger audience and raise awareness for our organization.
Helen Yamauchi's message: This is not one of our official monthly events, but if you let me know after you purchase your tickets, I can keep a list of those planning to go and email those interested in maybe having dinner before the show. If you need help with ticket purchase, just let me know. We already have 4 members signed up: Bev Harada, Marichu Scanlon, Rose Tokugawa, Helen Yamauchi.

This event features cooking demonstrations with Diana Chan, Mabel Lai, and Helen Kwan at each station. Members will enjoy delectable appetizers like Cheese Nuggets, Beef Kebab, Shrimp Toast, Crabmeat Dip, & Sangria at Diana Chan's house, and progress to the next station, for entrees: Imperial Crab Souffle, Southeast Asian Curry Chicken, and Roasted Spring Vegetables & Steamed Rice at Antonia Tu's house and finish with a dessert demo of Apricot Tarts plus a tantalizing Dessert Buffet with Butter Rum Cake, Apple Torte, Biscotti, and fresh fruits at Helen Kwan's house.

This is our flagship event highlighting the accomplishments of graduating Asian American high school students.
Deserving students are honored with scholarships sponsored by Chi-Am and individual Club members.
A guest speaker will be honoring our scholarship winners, and delivering an inspirational speech to the students.
The 2012 scholarship application will be available in mid-February. Please check back then or ask you high school counselor about it. Thank you for your interest. We look forward to your application.

Chi Am member Wendy Fong will lead our members and families on a special tour of the classrooms, robotic labs, hangar, dorms/ hotel accommodations for visitors and graduate students.

A delicious lunch and a talk about food for the body, mind, and soul and the key ingredients to help us age well and stay connected with friends and community. Featured Speaker, Catherine Wong, Nutritionist and manager of the S.F. Dept of Public Health, at the Chinatown Public Health Center, will launch us on this program talking about health and nutrition, followed by Chi Am panelists, Mabel Lai, Muriel Kao, Gloria Hom, and Diana Chan to elaborate on natural supplements, foods rich in anti-oxidants, music, dance, exercises, hobbies, books, internet web surfing, travels, staying connected, volunteering and giving back to the community, precautions, emergencies. We'd like to actively engage the audience in discussion. There will be informative handouts.
